Montaimont is located on average Maurienne, on the right bank of the Arc, at an average altitude of 1300 m, in a natural cirque dominated by the Mont du Fût.
Exceptional landscapes and a strong local dynamic to be encouraged.
The village consists of 15 hamlets inhabited only in summer for the most remote. Montaimont is also miles of hiking trails in summer and the northern area of Grand Coin in winter.

The old columned houses testify to the adaptation of rural architecture to landslides: the framework was supported by columns themselves resting on dry stones acting as wedges: the men played on the piling of stones to collect the deformations of the ground. The house was built inside the columns.
