Hiking

Discover along your hikes

As you wander along the trails, discover our heritage, local life, wildlife, and flora — and embrace this eco-friendly way of getting around to enjoy your holiday at your own pace. Everyone sets their own rhythm and level: in our mountains, you have thousands of hectares as your playground. With family, friends, or on your own, challenge yourself and reach the summit of Saint François Longchamp: the Cheval Noir, rising to 2,832 meters.

Our mountain lakes promise refreshing breaks and picture-perfect moments! Lac Bleu and Lac Blanc, the Lac de la Grande Léchère on the Montgellafrey side, and Lac du Loup in the Montaimont area — each with its own atmosphere and the promise of peaceful relaxation.

Step by step, you might even encounter the wildlife that calls our mountains home (marmots, chamois, foxes…).

Panoramic views of the Belledonne Range, the Étendard Glacier, the iconic Aiguilles d’Arves, and the majestic Mont Blanc… wonder at every turn!

For hikes without constantly checking a map, and to explore off the beaten path, our mountain guides go above and beyond to offer you even more freedom at altitude.

Whether solo, with your tribe, or guided, hiking lets you fully enjoy the benefits of the mountains. And as we say here, “once you try the mountains, you’re hooked!”

randonnées été saint françois longchamp

Walking and hiking enthusiasts, head to Saint François Longchamp for a complete change of scenery and breathtaking panoramic views!

In the heart of the Alps, surrounded by unspoiled nature in the Lauzière Massif, don’t forget your hiking boots for your summer mountain stay. Plan your routes according to your fitness level, check the weather forecast (as conditions can change quickly in the mountains), and always carry water, a snack, warm clothing, and a fully charged mobile phone.

The mountains are shared spaces — farmers and hikers coexist. Please make sure to close gates behind you and keep your distance from livestock guardian dogs.

Smart tip: want to start from higher up? The Lune Bleue chairlift and the Clochettes chairlift are open 5 and 3 days a week respectively, giving you quicker access to the summits!
