Rond-point des Arves known as Opinel
Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne
A giant Opinel stands at the intersection of the road leading from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to the Croix de Fer and Mollard passes. Standing at 3.83 metres, it has long been the largest Opinel in the world, and was inaugurated in 2002.
It measures 3.83 m and was made by Jean-Claude Opinel! It was he who created a giant monument in Albiez-Montrond (a 30-minute drive from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne), in tribute to the knife created by his grandfather there in 1890.
